Escala, the sexy female electric string quartet discovered on Britain’s Got Talent, are fronting Sky Sports’ stylish ‘new season’ 2008/2009 football promotional campaign trailer, which made its on-air debut today.

The group members are – left to right in the image below – Izzy Johnston, 23 (violin), Chantal Leverton, 24 (viola), Nastasya (Tasia) Hodges, 26 (cello) and Victoria Lyon, 24 (violin).  The girls met when they were part of an orchestral group, and having performed as a corporate band and at private functions, made it to the Final of Britan’s Got Talent after which they were duly signed by SyCo Music... and judge Simon Cowell, but we won’t hold that against them.

The music for the Sky trailer is the first track Escala performed together, ‘Theme from Palladio’, written by Welsh classical composer and musician Karl Jenkins, who is also well known for the Adiemus project. Palladio is a popular target for electro-classical arrangements, there’s another excellent version by harpist Catrin Finch.

Something tells us most of these subtleties, together with Escala’s virtuoso talents will be lost on the average football fan.  The phrase “pearls before swine” comes to mind.

Jodie McMullen, former Avago presenter and Miss Australia 1996, has not only been popping up as a fashion expert on QVC lately, but also dressed as a glamorous ironing housewife to promote Sky’s re-launched showbiz website.

We recognise Jodie (married name Jodie Seal) from her showreel, the second worst we’ve ever seen. The worst?  That would be Jodie’s previous showreel.  She’s a versatile presenter and actress so it’s about time somebody made a little more effort...

“C’mon luv, where’s my shirt?” Apparently Jodie McMullen’s too busy surfing the web.

Donna Air is appearing in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it advert.  Along with John Terry, Micholas Anelka, Petr Čech and Michael Essien, it's Donna's job to flog us the latest Samsung Series 6 LCD television.

Apart from a couple of acting roles, most noteably in the absolutely dreadful third series of Hotel Babylon, we haven't seen much of Donna since she took time off to have a daughter with ex-boyfriend Damien Aspinal.  Although unfairly known for not being the sharpest knife in the draw, there's no doubting that she sure is easy on the eye, so fingers crossed she'll be back in front of the photographer's lens fairly soon.

Check out Donna's ball skills in the video...
